As part of the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s “Environment and Culture 2010: the Myriad Voices of Water”, the museum of Asian Art in Corfu organised a weekend of educational activities in October 2010 entitled “Have you put the kettle on?” aimed at children in the 5th and 6th grades of primary school. The event was then included in the educational program of the museum and aimed at both students and adults.
During the program, the children are introduced to the traditional Japanese ritual of preparing and serving green tea by means of a projection specifically designed for children. The, using authentic implements of the tea ceremony, under the guidance of museum staff, the children prepared and served their own tea. At the same time, they were allowed to wear authentic Japanese silk kimonos from the museum’s collections.
